Make A Leaf

How to make a leaf in Adobe Illustrator

I am glad you have returned to Online Learning and Earning to increase your knowledge of Adobe Illustrator. In this simple tutorial I will show you how to make a leaf. The tools I used were:  Pen tool, Ellipse tool & Gradient tool etc. I hope you will be like this tutorial.

Step-1

First open a new document & select the Ellipse Tool. Draw an ellipses. Then fill in with any color (not white) using the Eyedropper Tool. Remove the line from around the filled in ellipse.

Step-2

Select: Convert Anchor Point Tool  (Shift +C) and move the anchor point until we get a form like figure # 4.

Step-3

Copy the shape you just made and add layer (picture) & select Pen Tool with medial point. Then with Selection Tool move the anchor point so it looks like figure #2 . We need to cut the leaf into two sections. by using the Cutting Tool to the second object. A window will appear. Click Pathfinder>Select the object>Intersect shape areas click> OK.

Step-4

You now have two parts of  the leaf to fill in with color. Using the Gradient Tool color the top of the leaf green & the bottom of the leaf orange, but with two selections.

Step-5

Select other color the same as you did with the top half of the leaf. With the Eyedropper Tool & Draw, angle the second layer (picture). Window> Gradient Tool> Select the color option> OK. This will give you a nice vein down the middle of the leaf.

Step-6

Complete with color as mentioned & with Rectangle Tool draw a stick, then choose the same color with the Eyedropper Tool. Move the drawing so that it is angled a little bit.

Step-7

Move the stick up to the leaf. You now have a stem. Then select the stem with Effect > Warp> Warp Option>Are> Horizontal> 53%> OK.

Step-8

Final Preview drawing, a completed nice shaped Leaf. You have just learned some great techniques with Online Learning and Earning. Thanks for stopping in.
